About Ho Kee Cafe

As someone who loves introducing friends to solid neighborhood eats, I always get excited talking about Ho Kee Cafe Restaurant, better known to locals simply as Ho Kee Cafe, because it captures the everyday comfort of a true Cantonese restaurant without trying too hard. Tucked along S Del Mar Avenue in San Gabriel, this spot feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and then keep coming back to, partly for the food and partly for the familiar, easygoing vibe. Ho Kee Cafe is all about classic Cantonese flavors that hit the spot whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between errands or settling in for a relaxed meal. The menu leans heavily into comfort food, with small plates that are perfect for sharing and generous portions that make solo visits just as satisfying. What I appreciate most is how flexible the experience is; you can dine in and soak up the casual atmosphere, swing by for takeaway when time is tight, or use delivery options, including no-contact delivery, when staying in feels like the better plan. Drinks like coffee pair well with the food if you’re stopping by earlier in the day, while beer is there for those evenings when you want something simple and familiar. Ho Kee Cafe doesn’t try to reinvent Cantonese cuisine, and that’s honestly its biggest strength, because the focus stays on flavor, consistency, and approachability. The setting is unpretentious, the service options are practical, and the overall experience feels designed for real people with real appetites. Whether you’re already a fan of Cantonese food or just starting to explore it, Ho Kee Cafe fits easily into your routine, offering a reliable, satisfying option that feels rooted in the local San Gabriel food scene while still being welcoming to anyone walking through the door for the first time.

Not bad but maybe I need to order something different more to my liking. Came here with friends and one of them paid so I can’t comment on price. Parking is a tiny lot but thankfully we found parking. There are plenty of seats inside and it’s pretty clean. I liked the pictures they put up and they have the typical cooked duck hanging in a window. I tried their hong kong milk tea and coffee mixture and it tasted good but if you are lactose, stay away! It later on destroyed me. Henry’s cuisine HK Milk Tea Coffee combo is a lot better (tastes better and doesn’t hurt your stomach)! I stayed away from the wontons cause I heard they had shrimp. I thought i would be safe with dumplings but prob my fault for rush ordering and the dumplings ended up having fat shrimp inside of it! I just ate the veggies and egg noodles (those were good). I also had a bite of my friend’s meat and rice dish and it was pretty good (I have a pic of it). I would come back but will definitely be careful what I order (shrimp is so bleck).

We came with four people. This place offer a variety of Cantonese dishes. Their duck was very good. Their stir fired noodles has a great amount wok 气. Very reasonably priced. And great portions

The waiter is very lovely, and the food is awesome. My friend, who is from Guangzhou, really like the noodle there, and he said it is pretty authentic. The shrimp is also pretty good. I would love to come there again for another food.

Dont let this Mom and Pop restaurant fool you. Their food quality beat the brand name bigger restaurant around here. Trust me their bbq duck and bbq pork taste way fresh and less fatty comparing samwoo.

Always hard to find great wontonmein outside of Hong Kong, but this place is pretty darn good for California and has great BBQ duck and pork as well! The chow mein and mabo tofu were also well above average and fell within classic HK quality standards. Every bite made my family happy.
